Ahead of the December 5, 2015 governorship election in Bayelsa state, over 60 groups and Non Governmental Organizations, NGOs, in the Niger Delta region under the umbrella of United Niger Delta People for Dickson have declared their total support for Governor Seriake Dickson’s re-election bid.

The groups said, they are supporting the incumbent governor and the Peoples Democratic Party PDP based on Gov. Dickson’s track record of achievements in areas of manpower development, education, infrastructures, roads, security and payment of workers’ salaries.

Addressing newsmen in Yenagoa, the President, Niger Delta Youth Leaders Association, Kennedy Tonjo West, said the groups decided to rally round Dickson because the All Progressives Congress, APC, does not have any tangible developmental policies and programmes for the state and Niger Delta at large.

“We have decided to work with the incumbent, Governor Dickson and the PDP, we have also decided to invest our time, money and resources and go to all the nooks and crannies of Bayelsa state to reconcile all aggrieved party members so that we can work as a big family come the December 5 election.

Accompanied by the Director General, United Niger Delta People for Dickson, Comrade Ibarakumo Otogbo, West said the groups would reconcile all aggrieved PDP members ahead of the forthcoming elections as he appealed to all aggrieved persons to close ranks and support Dickson’s re-election bid.

Both leaders insisted that the Creek Haven, the Bayelsa state seat of power is occupied for now, and advised the opposition to try the 2020 governorship election.

“We don’t want to enter one chance twice, there is no chance for APC led administration in Bayelsa state come December 5, 2015,” the groups stressed.

West assured Bayelsans that PDP is a party of trust, saying that whatever the state had gotten over the years was through PDP led governments.

“PDP government is noted for delivery of democratic dividends to its electorates. PDP is not associated with violence, killing, destruction and planting of explosives to scare voters,” he pointed out.

Describing the APC governorship candidate as reckless, the group said, it was moving to all the local governments and hinterlands to mobilize support for Governor Dickson and the PDP.

The group urged the electorates in the state to vote wisely and shun violence, but ensure that their Permanent Voters Cards count on the day of election in the state.
