AAG 2015: Dream Team to face Burkina Faso

Nigeria will be on the march again, Tuesday as the Dream Team take on Burkina Faso in the semi-finals of the football event at the 11th All Africa Games taking place in Brazzaville.

The coach Samson Siasia tutored side started the competition like a house on fire hitting he Black Meteors of Ghana 2-0 in their first group game which made other reams stand up and take notice.

That impressive win made them firm favourites for the gold medal but they were brought down o earth by Senegal and needed a last gasp equalizer by Mustapha Abdullahi to get a 1-1 draw with Senegal.

Burkina Faso is a daunting prospect for the Dream Team but Samson Siasia has said the team has learnt from the Senegal game and will surely put up a better performance in the semi-final.

“I’m proud of the boys for showing so much character and not giving up,”Siasia said after the late equaliser against Senegal.

“We will keep improving as the competition progresses and make sure we sort out the areas we have identified.” he added

The Burkinabes made I o the semi-finals at the expense of Sudan via a drawing of lots after the two teams finished the group stages on same points and same goals

Nigeria won the football gold medal in 1973 and will look to add to that tally in 2015 but they will have to battle past Burkina Faso to earn a spot in the final game.

Hosts Congo and Senegal will slug it out in the other group game.
