One For Change, a solidarity organization in Akwa Ibom State has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointment of Obong Nsima Ekere as the Managing Director of the Niger-Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The group described the gesture as well deserved judging from his antecedent, sterling qualities and records of service as former Deputy-Governor of Akwa Ibom State, business mogul, astute politician and administrator.
A statement issued by the group at the weekend and signed by the coordinator, Hon. Samuel Efanga which was made available to newsmen in Uyo, expressed appreciation to Mr. President for his avowed commitment to the development of the Niger-Delta region through Obong Ekere’s appointment.
The statement said: “We are highly indebted to you Mr. President for your avowed commitment to the overall development of the Niger-Delta region.
“We salute your judgment in recognizing a visionary leader in the person of Obong Nsima Ekere, a man imbued with the capacity to translate your vision for the development of the Niger-Delta region and country into reality”.
They expressed optimism that, the tenure will usher in unprecedented peace, progress and development in Akwa Ibom State and the Niger-Delta region.
While also thanking President Buhari for appointing former Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Samuel Frank as commissioner on the board of NDDC, the group prayed the Almighty God to grant the appointees the grace, good health and wisdom to shoulder the responsibility of their new office.
