Amodu: Edo FA gathers ex-internationals, coaches, sports writers for novelty match; as Illah Traditional Council outlines events for Keshi’s burial

All is now set for a befitting state burial by Edo State government for the late former Super Eagles Coach, Amodu Shaibu
Speaking with sports journalists in Benin, the state capital, Monday, the state Football Association Chairman, Frank Ilaboya, said arrangements have been concluded for ex- internationals, coaches and members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) to play a novelty match, Tuesday, July 19, 2016 in honour of Amodu, who was also a former chief coach of the defunct Benue State-based BCC Lions of Gboko.
“The state Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Presley Ediagbonya who is the Chairman, Planning Committee for the Amodu Shaibu 40 days Fidua prayer is ensuring things are in perfect order,” Ilaboya said.

He also said that a candle light procession will hold same Tuesday from 7pm starting from the Ovonranmwan Square, popularly known as Ring Road, to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
“The Commissioner for Sports is on top of everything, as we speak now, he is at the Government House perfecting all arrangements.”
Meanwhile, the Traditional Council of Illah Town in Delta State, Monday, said it has prepared grounds for the final rites of its late son, Chief Stephen Keshi.
Information received from the palace of the Obi of Illah, indicates the remains of late Keshi will be received at the Obi’s palace for a brief chieftancy rites before the interment.
Our sources further said that, Keshi’s remains which may be dressed in Nigeria’s colour will definitely be changed to his chieftaincy regalia before the interment.
“The Burial Arrangement starts on Thursday, July 28, 2016: Body leaves the morgue by 7:00am; Requiem mass at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 30 Airport Road, Benin City, Edo State from 8:00 am; Lying-in-State at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, by 10:00am.
“A Novelty match by All Stars and Tributes at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Stadium Road, Benin City, Edo State,” according to the schedule.
