ANLCA wins 2015 Maritime Cup football competition

Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has defeated the Nigerian Customs Service for the second time to lift the 2015 Ships & Ports Soccer Challenge.

ANLCA who had earlier defeated Customs three goals to nothing in the second Group A game of the competition defeated the three times Champion 3-2 on penalty shoot-out after the match ended goalless in 90 minutes of play.

The ANLCA team, which scored a total of 6 goals in the competition, conceded 2 goals in the competition.

ANLCA started its campaign by topping group A with seven points after defeating Customs and defending Champion National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) 2-1 before playing a goalless draw with Sifax group.

In the semi- final match, ANLCA defeated Micura one goal to nothing to set up a rematch with Customs.

Customs had in the group stage defeated NAGAFF, lost to ANLCA before defeating Sifax group in the last group match to qualify for the Semi Finals.

Customs defeated Micura Stevedoring service one nil to set up a rematch with ANLCA.

Meanwhile, in the third place match played earlier, Micura Stevedoring Services defeated the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) through penalty shootout to win the bronze medal of the competition.

A total of 44 goals were scored in 16 matches played in the competition, with 8 maritime teams.

The most valuable player of the tournament sponsored by Sifax group was won by Sadiq Musa of ANLCA while Fair Play award, sponsored by Fendercare Marine, was won by Sifax Group who also won the award last year, while NPA won team with the highest goal award sponsored by Olisa Agbakoba Legals with 11 goals‎.
