APC postpones Bayelsa governorship primaries to Sept. 22

Bayelsa State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its 2016 governorship primaries election earlier scheduled for Saturday, September 19, to Tuesday, 22.

The APC primaries which was originally scheduled to hold at the Samson Siasia Sport complex, Yenagoa was to elect the party’s candidate to represent the party at the forthcoming December 5 governorship poll in the state.

No reason was, however, given by the leadership of the party for the sudden postponement of the poll to next week

Delegates to the APC primaries election are currently accommodated in Delta, Port Harcourt and Omuku, a town in Rivers state ahead of the polls. Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole is the Chairman, APC governorship primaries election for Bayelsa state.

The September 22 election is expected to be keenly contested by former governor of the state Chief Timipre Sylva, and Chief Ndutimi Alaibe, former Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Others in the gubernatorial race under the APC platform include, Dr. Imuro Kubor, Preye Ganagba, Dikivie Okiogha, former Chief of Staff to the incumbent rival Peoples Democratic (PDP) Governor Seriake Dickson.
