Brig. Gen. Hassan said, the suspects were also caught with dangerous weapons, and have since been handed over to the Police, DSS and the Nigerian Civil Defence Corps for investigation and prosecution.

According to him, “we have arrested cultists, kidnappers, armed robbers, vandals and those that carried out nefarious activities in some parts of the state. So many incriminating weapons were also recovered from them”.

Operation Crocodile Smile 2, the Commander stated, was given the mandate by the Army headquarters to ensure a crime free society in the state, and acts that undermine the national security and safety of the people.

“We have been given the responsibility of ensuring that, all the miscreants in our area of responsibility are flushed out, while other criminal elements have been given the hot chase of their lives.

“To a large extent, this has paid off because most of the criminals have been smoked out and sacked from their hide outs. We also burnt down so many shrines in the course of our operation’’, he added.

He expressed satisfaction with the assistance and cooperation from members of the public for volunteering intelligence information since the exercise began in the state.

While calling for continuous cooperation from members of the public in the areas of information, he lauded the Police, DSS, NCDC and similar organizations for their support.
