Bauchi hosts Public Service Games “Bauchi 2017;” Gov. Abubakar named Patron, Goodwill Ambassador

The Bauchi State Government in partnership with the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) hosts a 10-day Annual Public Service Games tagged “Bauchi 2017” in Bauchi.

During a courtesy call by the management of the Federation, office of the Head of Federal Civil Service and the Hon. Minister for Youths and Sports ahead of the Official opening of the Games, the Minister of Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung, thanked Gov. Mohammed A. Abubakar for accepting to host the 36th edition of the Games in Bauchi State.

A statement by Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar, SA Communications to His Excellency the Governor of Bauchi State said that the Minister noted that the 36th edition being hosted in Bauchi is the most attended, it is therefore a perfect opportunity for all and sundry to witness for themselves the peaceful nature of the state and also interact with the peace loving and accommodating people of the state. The Minister described sports as a unifying factor in Nigeria, giving kudos to His Excellency the Governor, Mohammed Abubakar as a lover of sports and unity in Nigeria.

Also, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation ably represented by the Permanent Secretary Welfare Services, expressed the commission’s gratitude to His Excellency the Governor for accepting to host the august event and also commended the Governor’s unrelenting support for civil servants.

In his remarks, Governor Mohammed Abubakar stated that the importance of sports and leisure in the lives of human beings cannot be overemphasized especially the federal civil servants who put their all in serving their country.

The governor commended the organizers of the games, pointing out that it is a perfect avenue for a lot of misconceptions about the state to be corrected maintaining that Bauchi State is a very peaceful and hospitable state despite being in the North Eastern sub region.

Governor Mohammed Abubakar further stated that more than 6,000 people have entered Bauchi State for the games, and that that will undoubtedly boost the economy of the state.

Finally, the Governor prayed for a week of outstanding sporting activities and also called on participants to visit the famous Yankari Games Reserve, Sumu Wildlife Park and other tourist attraction sites in the state.

The game was later declared open by His Excellency Governor Mohammed A. Abubakar at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Stadium, Bauchi. The Governor was also honored as a Patron and Goodwill Ambassador of the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA).
