Bayelsa monarch hails Navy’s free medical treatment for host communities

The Monarch of Ovom Community in Bayelsa State, His Royal Highness Matthias Arabs Simeon has hailed the authorities of the Central Naval Command ( CNC ) for offering free medical Rhapsody to his subjects.

The Paramount Ruler also lauded the Nigeria Navy for rendering security assistance to the community over the years.

The traditional ruler who expressed gratitude for the free medical treatment by the Navy, appealed to the Command to support the community with employments to alleviate the poverty in the land.

Ovom community, the Monarch said, needs the services of the Navy to make life more meaningful for the people

The Royal Highness assured the Flag Officer Commanding, CNC, Rear Admiral Mohammed Garaba that his community would partner with the Command to make their operations in the state more effective.

The Monarch also appealed to his subjects to make themselves available and be orderly to benefit from the free medical program of the Nigeria Navy.

Earlier, Flag Officer Commanding, Central Naval Command, Rear Admiral Mohammed Garaba said the free Medical Rhapsody to the host communities is part of the Command’s strategic engagements with its host communities.

The FOC said, the Command had so far, successfully offered the free treatments in the three Ijaw communities of Agudama, Yenagoa, Akenfa and now Ovom, and described the treatments as part of the humanitarian assistance that the military renders to its immediate host communities, particularly to the less privileged.

The program, the FOC said, is partnering with local communities, stakeholders towards achieving its constitutional mandates

Mohammad Garaba said the Chief of Naval Staff has applauded the efforts of the Command in the free medical treatments of members of its host communities, stressing that “We are here to give out free medical services to the children, aged persons, adults and youths of the community.

“We want to use the free medical treatment to change the people’s negative thinking about the military, so that they can begin to see the military as humble and caring people,” Garaba said.

He appealed to the community not to see the Navy as enemies but as people who are out to protect the lives of the people and guarantee the safety of all.

Our Correspondent reports that over 1,500 Ovom indigenes including children were treated free of charge with anti malaria and anti hypertension.drugs. There was also deworming of patients and boosting of patients’ immunity by the team Naval doctors who were on duty.
