The lingering crisis rocking the Bayelsa State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has been resolved following the intervention of the leaders of the regional body.

This comes as the national leadership of the sports writers’ body also ordered fresh election into the state executive committee to be organized by the end of this month.

SWAN in the state had been engulfed in a leadership tussle for over 15 years, a situation which had threatened the profession of sports writing in the state.

Speaking shortly after a fact finding mission to the state by the South/South Zonal leadership last Saturday, Zonal Vice President, Honor Sirawoo called on media organizations in the state to establish sports desks in their various organizations.

In a resolution by the national delegate led by Sirawoo and accompanied by South Liaison Officer, Gabriel Nwanetanya and Chairman, Edo State SWAN, Ahmed Aigbona and secretary, SWAN, Rivers State Ola Ige, said the vacant positions existing in the executive body should be filled.

The body also resolved that membership forms should be sold to all interested and intending members

The resolution also said that members and intending members should agree to work in harmony for the interest and growth of the association in Bayelsa state and shun further disputes.
