Being the goodwill message of Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State on the occasion of the 55th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria.
I will start by thanking the Almighty Creator, the God of Abraham, God of Isaac, God of Jacob and the awesome God of David, for making this special occasion of the 55th anniversary of our dear country as an independent and undivided nation, possible.
I congratulate our Leader, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari and indeed, all Nigerians on this great accomplishment. We salute in a special way, the founding fathers of the nation whose sacrifices and contributions paved the way for her independence and consequently the celebrations we are
We thank the Armed Forces of the nation and all the security and paramilitary agencies, for the efforts and the sacrifices they are making to preserve the unity and the integrity of the country.
My special respects and gratitude goes to you, the good people of Enugu State, from the elevations of Nsukka to the farmlands of Nkanu land -the civil servants, the artisans, members of the various professions, the market men and women and Ndi Enugu in the Disapora-for the faith you invested in us at the elections and for the support and solidarity that you have continued to accord my administration since its inception. You are indeed, the true heroes of democracy.
I thank the churches for their unrelenting prayers for the peace and progress of our dear state in particular and the country in general. We are also grateful to all the foreigners who are doing business in Enugu and are employing and offering important services to our people.
I use this occasion to reassure you all of our commitment to deliver on the promises we have made to advance the frontiers of development in all sectors of the state’s economy, for the benefit of all citizens.
I urge you to remain steadfast in your prayers and in our collective efforts to make Enugu State peaceful, prosperous and progressive.
