Not less than eleven farmers were killed by Boko Haram terrorists in Amarwa village of Konduga local government area, at the outskirt of Maiduguri, Borno state.

The incident was said to have occurred on Saturday morning when the farmers were on their way to farm. They were waylaid and slaughtered by the insurgents.

Amarwa village of Konduga LGA  is16 kilometers away from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

According to an eyewitness who does not want his name in print, the insurgents who were 9 in number came on motorcycles and slaughtered 11 people.

He said he lost his brother-in-law, Ali Umaru in the incident. The source said they had gone to clear farms in preparation for this year’s farming season when they heard the sound of those screaming for help. They rushed to the scene and saw their corpses.

He said the victims were brutally killed with machetes despite the fact that the insurgents were carrying rifles. The terrorists refused to use the rifles as gunshots would have attracted military attention, he told our Correspondent.

”As I am speaking to you, the insurgents are still visible around Kajiri village of Konduga LGA which is about two kilometers away from the scene of the attack and eighteen kilometers away from Maiduguri”, he added.

He alleged that they had informed the military personnel stationed at the Alau dam just two kilometers away from the village but that they have not acted.

Efforts to get to the spokesman of the Operation Lafiya Dole, Col Onyema Nwachukwu for confirmation proved abortive, as at the time of filing this report. His phone has been switched off.
