Breaking News!! Chief Olu Falae kidnapped! Police suspect Fulani herdsmen; kidnappers demand N100m ransom

National chairman of Social Democratic Party, SDP, Chief Oluyemisi Falae has reportedly been kidnapped this (Monday) morning.
Information made available to journalists in Akure, the Ondo State capital, by the Director of Publicity of the party, Mr. Remi Olayiwola, indicated that the octogenarian politician was kidnapped on his farm at Ilado in Akure North Local Government.
According to him, the suspected kidnappers would have trailed him to the farm, from his Akure home.
Details of the incident are still sketchy as at press time as family members are converging at his Akure home to get details.
According to Mr. Olayiwola, Falae, who served as Secretary to the Federal Government, SGF, during the regime of ex military ruler, Gen Ibrahim Babangida, was able to make a telephone call to one of his relations before being driven away.
It could not be ascertained whether he was alone in the farm and Police in the state is yet to confirm the incident.
Mr. Olayiwola confirmed that somebody called the GSM number of Falae’s wife, Rachael saying “Baba is with them.”
Ondo State Police PRO, Wole Ogodo confirmed the incident saying Chief Falae has been having running battles with some Fulani herdsmen in his farm.
‘Baba Falae has been having a running battle with the herdsmen and this morning we learnt that he visited the farm and he was allegedly attacked by these herdsmen. But we have sent 50 of our men to the farm to begin the search for him.’
As at press time, the kidnappers of the elder statesman were said to have demanded that the family pay a ransom of N100 million.
