Buratai, Chief of Army Staff’s father’s remains laid to rest in Maiduguri

The remains of the father of Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Buratai, Alhaji Yusuf Burati has been laid to rest at Gwange grave yard Maiduguri amidst tears by friends and sympathizers.

The funeral prayer, which was said at Gawon Bona Jumat mosque, was witnessed by the Chief of Army Staff, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State, his deputy Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa, the GOC 7 Division and other sympathizers.

The deceased who passed away early hours of Friday at the age of 106 left behind one wife, 15 children including the mother of the Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Buratai, and other relations.

According to a family source, the deceased had a brief illness, was taken to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for 4 days before he passed away on Friday.

Baba Yusuf Buratai was a Second World War veteran who later worked with the Ministry of Education.

His close friend, Alhaji Modu Biu, who could not hold his emotions said life had no more value for him with Baba Yusuf gone and called for death to come for him so that he will join his friend.

A Federal Government delegation to the burial, led by the National Security Adviser, Gen. Babagana Munguno, the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan Ali, the Minister of State, Works, Hon. Baba Shehuri, the chairman Senate Committee on Defence, Senator Abubakar Kyari and chairman, House Committee on Defence, Hon. Muktari Betara, was in Maiduguri to condole the COAS.

Speaking on.behalf of the delegation, Gen. Moguno prayed for God to grant the deceased Jannatul Fiddaus and the family the fortitude to bear the lost.

Also speaking, Governor Kashim Shettima, who prayed for the deceased thanked President Buhari for the delegation.
