Prominent among bigwigs who stayed away with their supporters from the inauguration held at the Gombe international Hotel were a serving Senator, Usman Bayero Nafada and Abubakar Habu Mu’azu, a 2019 gubernatorial aspirant.
Usman Bayero Nafada, a one-time Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, is one of the bigwigs of the party in the State who contested in the Governorship Primaries of the party in 2015 while Abubakar Habu Mu’azu, has in recent times been widely recognized as one of the sustaining pillars of the party in the home front through organizing various party activities.
Meanwhile, strong speculations going round the State have shown that Nafada may be dumping the APC for the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
However, swearing-in the new executives under Mr. Nite Amangal who were elected on 21/10/2017 after prolonged internal crisis since 2015, the National Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Mai-Mala Buni called on them to join hands with other party members to ensure that the party captures the State from the PDP in the 2019 general elections.
Leader of the party in the State, Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje who pledged his loyalty to the party, thanked the party’s National Secretariat for what he described as rescuing the party from its internal wrangling.
He also called on gubernatorial aspirants of the party to be united warning that the party would not allow anyone jeopardize its efforts in winning the 2019 gubernatorial elections in the State.
According to him, “our ultimate goal is to capture power in Gombe State in 2019. We were defeated in 2015 because of anti-party activities of some people, and we won’t fail to take decisive action against any erring contestant after issuing him warnings. We won’t suffer to take the party to this level, capture it from those that didn’t mean well for us only to lose at the end”.
Other executive members of the party sworn-in were; Gabani Ado, Deputy Chairman; Adamu Abubakar, State Secretary, Ibrahim Sabo, State PRO; Kawu Mohammed Masu, Youth Leader; Rose Danjuma, Women Leader; Abayomi Williams, Legal Adviser and Danladi Shuabu, Ex-officio.
New chairman, Mr. Nite K Amangal, while thanking party members for the trust bestowed on him, promised that he along with his executive members would put in their best for the success of the party especially in the forth-coming 2019 general elections.
He said, taking power from the PDP in Gombe State can be very easy if there is unity in the party adding that APC has all it takes, especially political heavyweights to win elections from the ruling PDP.
Except the two notable party bigwigs, all known APC members including their gubernatorial aspirants, members of national and State legislators and Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah attended the inauguration.
