The Borno State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders’ forum has rejected the outcome of the recent congress of the party in the state describing it as illegal and a violation of the guidelines for the party’s congresses and convention.

Addressing newsmen at a press conference in Maiduguri, the chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Maidugu said they have rejected the outcome of the purported state congress and the suspension or sacking of the Borno state PDP Chairman, Alhaji Baba Basharun and other executives in the state.

He said the PDP Congress guidelines stipulate that Congress shall be conducted in an open and transparent option A4-like method, pointing out that in the recent state Congress, the rule was not adhered to.

Maidugu said “there is no evidence that such exercises were conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the party in the whole of Borno State. Therefore, we reject the so called outcome and condemn the illegality”.

He said the Borno state PDP stakeholders’ forum supports and aligns itself with the stand of the PDP Northern Elders Forum led by Prof Jerry Gana as well as the resolutions of the concerned PDP stakeholders at the national level.

He further urged genuine PDP members in Borno state to remain calm and loyal to the philosophy of the founding fathers and await the outcome of the serious efforts the leaders are
making in conjunction with the party’s Board of Trustees.
