The Coordinator of Idoma Shine Your Eyes Group, Comrade Yakubu Onogwu has asked the Idoma and Igede nation to ignore the purported support for the embattled former senate President, Senator David Mark’s return bid by a coalition of young Idoma professionals in the rescheduled February 2016 poll.

The former president of the senate is challenging the All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial candidate, Daniel Onjeh at the rescheduled poll.

The body in an on-line statement made available to newsmen urged the people of Benue South senatorial district, not to succumb to the empty campaign promises of David Mark, but that rather he should be made to account for his stewardship to the people of the zone in the last 16 years he was at the Senate.

While describing the purported support by the so called young Idoma professionals as baseless, the group noted that they are not in any way representing either young professionals or Idoma youths, rather that they are on a self-seeking mission for personal aggrandizement. Comrade Onogwu then challenged the pro- Mark group to publish the names of Idoma or Igede youths empowered by Mark.

“It quite nauseating and unfortunate that when the people of Benue South are doing everything possible to align with the change mantra some disgruntled youths who obviously are seeking handouts have mortgage their future for a plate of porridge and are busy canvassing support for the same person who brought poverty and under-development to the zone.

“The people of the zone are tired of Mark and the PDP and that is why the voting public which comprises of Idoma elders, market women, farmers, youths, students groups and civil servants are championing the campaign to retire Mark from the political arena due to his lack-lustre representation spanning 16 years,” the group added.
