ECOWAS, U.S-based magazine honour Onyeka Onwenu

THE Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Female Parliamentarians Association (ECOFEPA) has conveyed a letter of nomination to the Director-General, National Centre for Women Development, Lady Onyeka Onwenu as its Ambassador at a ceremony, planned for Abuja on May 18.

The Bureau of ECOFEPA, which is a Network of Female Parliamentarians in the ECOWAS sub-region said in the letter that Onyeka’s nomination stemmed from her “creativity, leadership, initiative, extraordinary service and passion for gender related issues.”

A statement from the office of the Director-General also indicated that Lady Onyeka Onwenu will be honoured by Amoize magazine based in Dallas, Texas, United States, in August 2015. The award is in recognition of the inspiring role Lady Onwenu has played over the years through her music, acting skills and advocacy around women and children issues.
