The State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Enugu state chapter on Tuesday expelled the State’s Deputy Chairman, Mr. Adolphus Udeh.
This is even as the party accused Barr. Mrs. Juliet Ibekaku, Senior Special Assistant to the President, attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, of masterminding the crisis due to her senatorial ambition.
The party set up a disciplinary committee to investigate and recommend appropriate punishment for nine others, who along with Udeh, allegedly broke into the party secretariat on Monday to announce illegal
suspension of the state chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye.
The party noted that Ibekaku will also be invited by the disciplinary committee to explain why was sponsor crisis in the party.
The state executive committee in the meeting attended by 49 out of 67 members with the exemption of the Treasurer and Financial Secretary who have been on suspension since last year, passed a vote of confidence
on the state chairman, Dr. Nwoye.
The resolution of the state executive committee read by the state chairman, Nwoye, stated that the act of breaking into the office and making away with some documents had been reported to the security agencies, who are looking out to arrest and prosecute perpetrators.
The chairman of the party explained that his deputy, Udeh was expelled based on the recommendation of a disciplinary committee earlier set up to investigate other charges against him.
He said that Udeh, apparently aware of the impending expulsion hammer led other “dissident” members of the party to stage a failed coup-d’état against the chairman on Monday.
According to the resolution, “Based on the report of the fact finding/disciplinary Committee setup to investigate the allegation against the Deputy Chairman of the party, Mr. Adolphus Udeh, the said Deputy Chairman stands expelled from the party with effect from July 4th 2017.
“The State Executive Committee condemned in its entirety the barbaric, criminal and anti-party activities of undesirable elements in the party for having invaded the party office and announced the removal of the state party chairman in a coup- d’état fashion and carted away vital documents including financial records on Monday 3rd Day of July 2017”.
The resolution signed by all the 49 exco members in attendance listed the members to be investigated by the Disciplinary Committee to be set up to include; Mr. A. C. Udeh, Mr. Valentine Nnadozie, Barr.Ejike Ugwu, Mrs. Queen Nwankwo,and Mr. Louse Okolo Jr.
Others are; Mr. Sydney Eze, Mrs. Maris Jideofor, Mr. Ebere Okolo and others said to be at large.
The state chairman announced that the state executive committee of the party was peaceful and that the meeting resolved to continue to give unalloyed support to the Federal Government lead led by President Muhammadu Buhari and the national leadership of the party led by Chief Odigie Oyegun.
