Mrs. Ugwuanyi made the call in an address on the occasion of the health screening exercise in Agbani, Nkanu West local government area of the state.
She noted that the health screening exercise involves cervical examination, dental/eye checks, breast examination and blood system tests. Others are surgical and health tests, blood pressure tests, kidney function tests and blood sugar tests.
She enjoined women in the state to avail themselves of the opportunity provided by this exercise to participate in the screening to enhance their health conditions.
Earlier in an address, the wife of the caretaker committee chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Area, Mrs. Ugochi Afam Okereke commended Mrs. Ugwuanyi and her husband for their zeal to ensure effective health care delivery in the rural areas of the state.
Mrs. Okereke noted that the free health screening exercise would help women identify silent killer diseases early enough for necessary medical action so as to forestall maternal mortality in the state.
She affirmed that the women of the state are also grateful to the wife of the president of Nigeria, Mrs. Aisha Buhari for bringing health care services to the grass-root.
In a brief remark, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sam Ngwu commended Mrs. Ugwuanyi for sustaining the pet project of the wife of the president of Nigeria in the state, urging her not to relent from taking the initiative to the local communities.
He also thanked volunteer doctors participating in the screening exercise in the state.
Numerous women of the council area turned out in their numbers for the screening exercise.
