Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state Thursday declared that Enugu remains one of the safest states in the country that had maintained peace and security of lives and property of the populace.
Gov. Ugwuanyi who spoke in Enugu during the presentation of the second edition of the books: “Discovering the Police” and “Sugar Cane Receipts”, authored by the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, commended the Police force in Enugu for their support and cooperation in the efforts of his administration to maintain peace and security in the state.
He noted that the Police had continued to play their part in the attainment and sustenance of the status of the state as one of the safest states in the country and deserve to be encouraged to do more.
The governor equally hailed Mr. Ojukwu for his wisdom, courage and diligence in x-raying his knowledge and experience in the Police for the benefit of both officers and men of the Force in particular and
the public in general.
While expressing his confidence that the books would “offer a deeper insight into the principles and procedures that guide the operations and activities of the Police vis-a-vis their mandate to secure the
lives and property of citizens”, Gov. Ugwuanyi stated that the books would also serve to enlighten the people more on the need to cooperate with the Police in the fight against crime and other social ills.
The governor added that the books would also help clarify areas of doubt or skepticism against the Force and build greater understanding and partnership between the Police and the public.
He, therefore, reiterated his administration’s commitment to continue to strengthen the Police and other Security agencies in the state to discharge their responsibilities effectively for the benefit of the
society.
In his remark, the author of the books and state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ojukwu thanked the governor and other dignitaries at the event for their support and show of solidarity. He said that he was
moved by his passion and deep rooted experience in the Police force to publish the books to offer insights and analyses of the Police organization and create avenue for people to understand issues facing the force as well as appreciate their operational strategies.
