FG moves to immortalize late Keshi

Federal Government has revealed plans to immortalise the late former captain and coach of the senior national team, the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi, who died, Wednesday, in Benin, Edo.
Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, who disclosed this, Thursday, while reacting to the sudden demise of the soccer icon, said the news of the death of the former Eagles coach, fondly called ‘Big Boss’came to him as a big shock, as he was neither sick nor had any health issues before his demise.
“I received the devastating news of the sudden demise of Stephen Keshi as a shock. It is a great loss to the nation. We have missed an icon, whose presence changed the face of football in this country.
“He was a trailblazer who dedicated his life and talents to his Fatherland. I join millions of soccer followers across the world to mourn this illustrious son of Nigeria, Africa and the world.
“I have started a wide consultation and I will formally present [it] to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for a befitting immortalisation of Keshi with one of our sports edifices,” he said.
The minister also added that the Federal Government, through the ministry, was planning to set up a ‘sports funds or academy in memory of the late soccer legend.
