Emerging media brand in Nigeria, the Global Patriot Newspapers (globalpatriotnews.com) will line out alongside over 200 top travel and tourism professionals and brands for the World Travel Awards (WTA) Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2015, billed for the Seychelles, this Saturday, June 20.

The annual event billed for the expansive Kempinski Seychelles Resort, Baie Lazare, holds for industry practitioners on the African continent and comes on the heels of the cancellation of the previous destination of Abuja, in Nigeria for security challenges.

Global Patriot Newspapers with its media accreditation (17479: Victor Nze) becomes one of the few media organizations in the country to be so recognized for the prestigious awards for coverage of events and happenings in the two-day gala ceremonies.

The awards proper on June 20 will be preceded by complimentary events and activities built around the ceremony to ensure a weekend of unrivalled networking opportunities and memories, including a tour of the capital city of the popular holiday destination in the Indian Ocean.

The Gala Ceremony – which will welcome nearly 200 industry leaders to the luxury resort – will be hosted by the glamorous former Miss Seychelles, Sherlyn Furneau, and leading presenter Galen Bresson.

Performing at the event are The National Cultural Dance Troupe of Seychelles and the Breeze Band, both of whom will take the audience on a journey during the evening showcasing the history and culture for which the island is famous.

World Travel Awards president Graham Cooke said: “It has been a long-held dream for World Travel Awards to visit Seychelles. Now, in our 22nd year, this dream is finally coming true.”

He added: “Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare is the perfect place to host our annual Gala Ceremony and I look forward to welcoming all our nominees to this fantastic destination.”

World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry.

Today, the WTA brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire.

Each year WTA covers the globe with a series of regional gala ceremonies staged to recognise and celebrate individual and collective successes within each key geographical region.

Alain St.Ange, Seychelles’ Minister for Tourism & Culture, said: “Seychelles is proud to be hosting the prestigious World Travel Awards African & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2015 at the Kempinski Seychelles Resort on Saturday, June 20th.

“This is a fine example of Africa doing for Africa, and the Vanilla Islands doing for the Vanilla Islands, a concept that I have long held dear, and this is an excellent example of this process in action.”

He added: “At Kempinski Seychelles Resort, participants in this ultimate travel event will have an opportunity to taste Seychelles’ hospitality at its very best and showcase the African and Indian Ocean region’s hospitality products for the diversity, authenticity and excellence they represent.”

Hailed as ‘the Oscars of the travel industry’, World Travel Awards celebrates its 22nd anniversary this year and is acknowledged across the globe as the ultimate travel accolade.

The brand aims to celebrate those organisations that are pushing the boundaries of industry excellence.
