Gombe veteran journalist laid to rest in Jos

A veteran Journalist in Gombe State, Daniel Nyam Gwash has been laid to rest in his native town of Gwash, near Jos the Plateau State capital.

The late Daniel Nyam Gwash was until his death at the age of 57, the Gombe State Correspondent of the Nigeria Standard Newspapers owned by the Plateau State Government.

Mr. Gwash, a very active member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in Gombe State, died while receiving treatment in Our Lady of Apostle (OLA) Hospital, Jos after a brief illness on Thursday 5th October, 2017.

The Veteran Journalist, who is well known for his sense of humour, left behind his wife, five children and many relatives to mourn him. The Church service in his honour was held at Ruhaniya Baptist Church, Fudawa, Jos North Local Government Area.

In a condolence message signed on behalf of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the NUJ, where he was an active member, the Chairman, Abdullahi Tukur described the Late Gwash as a very hard working journalist whom the media in Gombe State will miss a lot.

While praying for the repose of the soul of the departed, the Chairman called on other Journalists to emulate the good virtues of the departed colleague. The Journalists also paid a condolence visit at the headquarters of the Nigeria Standard newspapers before returning to Gombe.
