Saturday, September 17, 2016, would remain a memorable day as on that day, the Chief Press Secretary and Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Ekerete Udoh alias Udo Mbakara, took his heart throb, Ms Inyene Allen Awakessien in marriage. The memory of that glorious day still lingers on.

The wedding which held at Faith Road in Uyo, the state capital was graced by the crème de la crème of the society and, almost turned into a party affair as big wigs from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties filled the venue to the brim.

Governor Emmanuel, while speaking at the marriage ceremony expressed delight at the marriage which in his view, has joined the two from the different Local Government Areas of Onna and Nsit Ibom respectively to become one in love.

Marriage, according to the Governor, was instituted by God and everyone knows its importance as it enhances companionship and helps to expand the family line.
He advised Nigerians preparing to marry to define what they want, emphasizing that, marriage is eighty percent flesh and twenty percent spiritual.

While wishing the celebrants eternal marital bliss for the decision to become husband and wife in marriage, he commended the Bride, Inyene for making the day a reality praying God, to guide them as their exposures and education would help them sustain the union.

Earlier, Chairman on the occasion, Sir Valentine Attah, described marriage as a sensitive institution that requires maturity, commitment and love and respect for one another and, enjoined them to always avoid third party in their marriage.

The ceremony, after the usual funfair that characterizes marriage in Ibibio tradition, climaxed in marriage rites; exchange of drinks by the bride and groom’s families and official handing over of the wife to the husband followed with cutting of traditional cake and a nuptial dance.

Other dignitaries that graced the ceremony were; Deputy-Governor, Mr Mosses Ekpo, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Barrister Onofiok Luke, Secretary to the State Government, Sir Etekamba Umoren, Head of Service, Mrs Ekerebong Akpan, Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, media practitioners, party chieftains, friends of the bride and groom and associates amongst others.
