Governing Council of Gombe State University satisfied with N1.5 billion hostel project

The Governing Council of the Gombe State University has expressed satisfaction with the quality and standard of three gigantic hostels undertaken by TETFUND and capable of accommodating no fewer than 1.500 students.
The three students’ hostels which are expected to be occupied by the students as soon as they resume from the New Year break according to the Chairman of the Governing Council of the University, Professor Idris Mohammed, will have two of the Hostels for the boys while one will be for the girls.
Speaking to Journalists after council members inspected the project, Professor Mohammed stated that the project, begun just two years ago, is now ready to accommodate the students.
He said the University has reached good development within the last few years as its first set of medical students would soon proceed on practicals at the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe and the State Specialist Hospital Gombe.
He explained that the council also received tremendous assistance from the State Government in its bid for the development of faculties and departments as most of the projects within the university were on-going.
It was gathered that the medical college has received approvals from Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and other professional bodies and that not long from now, Gombe State would soon have medical personnel trained by its University.
Professor Idris however explained that top among challenges faced by the council is funding, a problem he said is being faced even by the Federal Government. The Institution has however achieved enormous tides since the appointment of the current Council.
