Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar has sworn in interim chairmen for the 20 local government councils in the state.

Speaking at the swearing in ceremony which took place in Government House, Bauchi, he appealed to the new local government caretakers to pay special attention to the improvement of internally generated revenue of thier local government areas to take care of salaries of chairmen and Council members as well as execute projects in order to compliment what they receive from the federation account.

The Governor who was represented by the State Deputy Governor, Nuhu Gidado, warned them against corrupt practices, indolence and incompetency, warning that he will not hesitate to remove any chairman found wanting or disloyal to the government.

” Let me remind you that assignment given to you is a trust.You have a duty to God and obligation to your fellow human beings.Thus, you should not be tempted to abuse the trust bestowed on you as you are there to serve the people and not become thier bosses,” he said.

According to him,”This administration attaches great importance to probity, accountability and strict adherence to due process in governance.To this end, i admonish you to be judicious in handling the finances of the local government, to be fair in your dealing with all people and shun bootlickers and rumour mongers”.

The governor charged them to put in place measures aimed at employment generation to the people by revitalizating ailing industries, provide technical and vocational training to the youths so that they can become self-employed.
