Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has donated two vehicles to Rangers International Football Club of Enugu to enhance their performance, urging them to win laurels for the state.

The governor who is noted for his slogan that “Enugu state is in the hands of God”, specially prayed for the team to win the current league and to open the flood gate for winning more laurels for the state just as it used to be in the good old days for the club.

Speaking while handing over the keys to the vehicles – a 30-seater Toyota Coaster bus and a KIA Cerato car – at the Government House, the governor told the members of the management team of the club and some of the players during a brief ceremony to work harder and improve their performance, especially in view of the assistance the gesture would offer the team

The governor further explained that the donation made even in these hard times underscored the importance his administration attached to the wellbeing of the club now that the players are doing well in the Nigeria Football Premier League.

The donation of the vehicles was sequel to an earlier approval to that effect made by Enugu state executive council to assist the club in carrying on with its operations in a manner that would pose minimal discomfort to the management and the players.

Receiving the keys to the cars from the governor, the state commissioner for youth and sports, Mr. Charles Ndukwe, said the gesture would offer the team the opportunity to not only enhance their performance but to do that creditably and favourably in the on-going league.

He commended the governor and members of the executive council for offering the assistance in these austere times, urging the club not to let the people down.

Among the members of the Rangers team present during the ceremony were chairman of the board, Steve Orurua, the general manager, Paul Chibuzor, a board member, Afam Udeani, technical adviser, Immama Amakpakabor and the captain of the team, as well as the head coach, Amaobi Ezeaku, among others.
