Governor Ugwuanyi reiterates commitment to democracy dividends for Enugu

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has reassured the people of the state of his full commitment to fulfil his campaign promises for the benefits of all.

The governor noted that the people of the state deserve to reap the dividends of democracy as they have demonstrated their faith in his administration.

In a broadcast to mark Nigeria’s 55th Independence Anniversary at the Government House, Enugu, the state Chief Executive urged the people of the State to use the occasion of the event to commit themselves to

prayers for peace and stability in the country. The governor commended the people of the State for their overwhelming support to his administration, expressing hope that such tempo of solidarity would be sustained to actualize the objective of government in all ramifications.

Governor Ugwuanyi praised President Muhammadu Buhari in his effort to sanitize Nigeria and the founding fathers of the country in their drive towards the preservation of the unity of the country, describing them as true heroes of democracy.

He also commended the Nigeria Armed forces and other security agencies in their effort to keep Nigeria as one.

Earlier before the broadcast, the governor took salute and inspected guard of honour mounded by the detachment of Nigeria Police Force, Enugu State Command, at the parade ground Government House, Enugu to mark the event.

Furthermore, a thanksgiving mass was also held at the government house, chapel to mark the event. In a homily at the church service by the chaplain Rev. Father Sylvester Nwodo, the priest commended Governor Ugwuanyi for being consistent in placing God first in all he does, adding that with God, everything is possible. In his words, “There is nothing we can do without God. In God we find our power”

Intercessory prayers were offered for Nigeria, Enugu State and the people.

Governor Ugwuanyi read the first lesson in the service while his deputy Hon. Mrs. Cecelia Ezeilo read the second lesson in the mass attended by the state top government officials.

The governor also took salutes from different secondary schools at Okpara Square during the march past. Thereafter the governor represented by the commissioner for education, Professor Uche Eze re-emphasized his commitment for quality education in the state.

He therefore called on well meaning individuals to partner the state government in order to realize this noble objective. In his words “The ministry of education is ever ready to partner with individuals and groups wishing to devote their knowledge, resources and expertise, to contribute to raising standards in our educational system”.
