‘How I survived APC tsunami in the North’ – Female PDP House of Reps member; Aims for Senate

Hon. Binta Bello

The Deputy Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Honourable Fatima Binta Bello, has revealed that the undying support she enjoyed from her people enabled her to survive the All Progressives Congress, APC, tsunami that swept through most parts of the North during the 2015 general elections.

Honourable Bello, who is hoping to be the first Female Senator from Gombe State, if she realises her ambition in the forth coming 2019 general election, told reporters after commissioning empowerment projects worth hndreds of millions of Naira in her constituency, that pressure is already mounting on  her to take a shot at the Senate seat of her constituency.
According to Binta Bello, who represents Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituency, “I’m not aiming at the Senate, but my people are urging me to contest and by God’s grace I’m going to contest”.
She said, what endeared her to her people had been her philanthropic activities even before joining politics, adding that the people of her Senatorial zone feel she can represent them better owing to their many years of neglect.
She said, “I am fulfilled as the first female principal officer in the House of Reps from the Northern States of Nigeria, I feel honoured by my people because it is courtesy of them electing me for the second term.
“After the APC Tsunami and all the shaking, I happened to be the only person that got back to the Seventh Assembly from the PDP, I feel proud and my pride cannot end without thanking the constituents who made it happen”, she stressed.
Earlier, commissioning the empowerment projects, Chairman of the occasion and Deputy Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, Honourable Chukwuka Onyeama Wilfred, commended the efforts of Binta Bello, assuring the people that she will do more if given the opportunity in a higher position.
He called on the people to have faith in the PDP and vote out the APC because the PDP has learnt its lessons.
The occasion which was held in Filiya town, Shongom LGA, saw the commissioning of a JAMB centre, a well furnished 120 capacity town hall, free distribution of five trailer loads of fertilizer, a modern abattoir with 50 trained personnel who got N20,000 each, many teaching and learning materials for schools, business centres opened for many youths of the constituency,  among many others.
