The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has assured maximum security for luxury bus operators and passengers across the country.

Speaking when Luxurious Bus Owners Association visited him at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, Monday, the IG said the problem of armed robbery along the highways would be confronted decisively

A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole said Arase further expressed the Police Force’s commitment to eradicating all forms of criminality in the country through intelligence policing.

Reacting, the LBA President, Chief Dan Okemuo lauded the IG for his efforts to tackle highway robberies through the Safer Highway patrol unit, even as he sought police intervention in curbing attacks on buses and passengers along routes within the North-Central region and Zaria/Kaduna axis.

Okemuo who also pledged support for the safer highway patrol programme of the police, added that his association would work to strengthen the existing relationship between the Nigeria police and operators of luxury buses in the country.

“This is with a view to enhancing security arrangement for both travellers and luxury bus operators, a measure aimed at checking the flow of small and light arms in and around cities in Nigeria,” he added.
