IGP Arase unveils Korede Bello as first police youth ambassador

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase, has unveiled popular contemporary artiste, and member of musicv producer Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records, Korede Bello, as the first Nigerian Police Youth Ambassador.

According to a statement by Acting ACP Kolawole Olabisi, the Force Public Relations Officer, the move comes as part of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to constantly partner the community in policing Nigeria, and considering the youths as critical elements in fighting crimes across the country.

The IGP in his message during the investiture and unveiling of the 1st NPF Youth Ambassador, last Wednesday, described the youths as ‘the potential security agents and a deciding factor in the security of this nation by their youthful propensity.’

He, therefore, urged Ambassador Korede Bello to take the campaign against crime and criminality to other Nigerian youths with a view to deterring them from taking to crime.

Also, the IGP advised youths to emulate the patriotic spirit of the Youth Ambassador, Korede Bello, ‘shun crime and criminality, redefine their priorities; and contribute their quota in the task of building a great Nigeria that will be the pride of Africa, and in the global comity of nations.’

In addition, the IGP during the investiture and unveiling of the Youth Ambassador, also launched a vigorous anti-crime campaign jingles targeted at creating awareness on the dangers of crime, discouraging young Nigerians from engaging in crime and eliciting public support and participation in tackling crime.’

The jingles which are in consonance with the IGP’s untiring efforts at addressing the security challenges of terrorism, insurgency, kidnapping, cultism, rape as well as human and drug trafficking offences, will help in rebranding the nation and generally help to educate citizens on how to avoid victimisation by criminals.

The jingles which come in English, Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo languages as well as in Pidgin English version are targeted at Nigerians from all walks of life. They are expected to run simultaneously on several television channels and radio stations across the nation.
