Job creation: Digital marketing training commences for budding entrepreneurs

Mr. Godwin Obaseki, Edo State Governor

The Edo State Government has restated its commitment to create the 200,000 jobs promised the people of the state.

This reassurance was given by the Commissioner of Wealth Creation, Cooperative and Employment, Barr. Emmanuel Usoh, during a four-day training for university and polytechnic graduates on Digital Marketing which began Thursday in Benin City.
Usoh stated that the Edo State Government would ensure that everyone registered in the Edo Jobs portal gets employed after acquiring the needed skills to enhance their entrepreneurial abilities.
“We have so many unemployable youths who have certificates but need to acquire certain skills or trainings to be able to create value for their prospective employers,” the commissioner said.
He called on participants to take advantage of the training and key into digital marketing platforms to expand their scope as we are in an era driven by technology.
“Edo State Government is calling on the youths to bring themselves out and be useful as the government is poised to ensuring that the set 200,000 jobs target is met.
The commissioner said the data currently at the jobs portal showed that those that have applied for one job or the other are over 100,000.
Usoh said the state was strategically located and the people are smart, intelligent and urged everyone to contribute his quota to the development of the state.
One of the participants at the training, Osaretin Alexander, thanked the Edo State Government for the training, which he described as timely, as traditional marketing is gradually giving way to digital marketing which has come to stay as the world embraces technology.
“We have to embrace technology to put our business in the global map. This training will help me reposition my business by targeting my audience and increasing my network to get more clients.
“I am happy to be part of this training as it will bring a new face to my business,” he said.
Mary Oyewole, a welder who also participated in the training said she came  because she wanted to expand her network for the world to be part of her business.

The four-day training is targeted at entrepreneurs who are university or polytechnic graduates. Other categories of participants will be invited for the training on social media.
