Lagos partners UNICEF to end violence against children

Lagos State Government, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has commenced a Three-Day Violence Against Children (VAC) technical workshop to fashion out the state’s action plan to end violence against children in the State.

Declaring the workshop open, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Lola Akande said that, children abuse has reached a frightening stage.

She enunciated that, all hands must be on deck to eradicate the scourge, adding that, in the last four years, statistics revealed that 2,533 children had suffered various forms of abuse.

While commending UNICEF for championing the protection of children, Akande enjoined participants to participate actively and develop a formidable plan of action that will protect children in the State from all forms of abuse.

She implored Lagosians to make use of the Ministry’s help lines – 08085754226 08085594141 and 08102679443 to report cases of child abuse and urged them to rebroadcast the numbers to others in order to end violence against children in the State.
