‘Learn to concede defeat’… Dankwambo tells politicians

Gov. Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State

As the 2019 election draws close, Gombe State Governor and a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential hopeful has called on Nigerians aspiring to political positions to learn how to concede defeat in good faith.

Governor Dankwambo stated this at the Government House shortly after the eid prayers marking the end of the Ramadan fast which heralds the Muslim celebration of eid-el-fitr.
Dankwambo, who used the occasion to call on Nigerians to ensure they get their PVCs, said getting and using their PVCs during elections remains the only weapon to get rid of bad leaders.
As if speaking on his presidential ambition, Dankwambo who has not officially declared his intention said the people of Gombe State are at liberty to vie for any post in the land from bottom to top.
According to him, “we are eligible to vie for any political post in the land from bottom to top, there is no position in Nigeria that a Gombe person cannot vie for”.
He called on the people of the State to put to practice all that they have learnt during the Ramadan fast.
Earlier in his Sallah Message to the State, Dankwambo felicitated with the Muslim Umma over the opportunity to get closer to Allah.
” As we are all aware, Islam preaches peace, tolerance, and mutual respect amongst members of every community irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.
“I therefore call on us to leave in peace with one another as no meaningful development can be achieved without peace. We should therefore embrace the tenets of peaceful coexistence as the catalyst for the socioeconomic development of our dear State”, stressed.
The Sallah celebration was marked peacefully in the State with the Governor paying the usual Sallah homage to the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar.
