The All Progressives Congress, APC, Enugu state chapter, on Tuesday announced that it will suspend some party leaders working to deliver candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the local government elections scheduled to hold in the state on November 4.
The state chairman of Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) and state vice chairman of the party, Chief Anike Nwoga, who announced this during a press conference at the state secretariat of the party, stated that the APC has a list of such chieftains, noting that they would be suspended forthwith if they continue to play double standard after the public warning.
Anike, who did not name the culprits, also warned the suspended deputy state chairman of the party, Adolphus Ude and the woman leader, Mrs. Queen Nwankwo to stop parading themselves as officers of the party.
He said that since they did not appeal their suspension within the seven days period allowed by the party’s constitution, they should consider that they have sacked themselves from the party.
Anike said that even if other members of the party who were suspended alongside the duo showed remorse and were forgiven by the party, Ude and Nwankwo would never be forgiven because they were “moles” and “viruses” that allegedly worked against the party’s interest during the 2015 general elections.
The state vice chairman of APC, who said he was given the mandate to address the press by the state chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye and members of the state executive committee, also cautioned Nigeria’s High Commissioner to India, Gen. Chris Eze (rtd), who is also the former secretary of the party in the state, to steer clear of politics and face his ambassadorial assignments.
He said that Gen Eze, whom he accused of having told the press that Dr. Nwoye, the state chairman, was on suspension, might be a General in the Nigerian Army, but he is still a Recruit in Nigerian politics.
“Why I said that enough is enough is because it is not only Adolphus Ude that is a mole in APC Enugu state, so many of our leaders in Enugu state are moles in this party. They are working for PDP, and they think we don’t know, we know them.
“As we are going for local government elections next month, some leaders of APC in this state took part in selecting who will be PDP candidates in this state, and they think that the state chairman and the working committee are weak, we are not weak.
“We’re giving them the last chance; if we get any sign or any further information of their activities in PDP Enugu state, we will suspend them, no matter that person’s position in the society… It’s either you’re in APC or you go back to PDP, go and stay there, we don’t mind.
“Then sometime last week, a former secretary of this party in the name of Gen Chris Eze (rtd), made a statement to the press that Dr. Ben Nwoye our state chairman is on suspension. And three days ago the same Ben Nwoye called the meeting of APC caucus in Enugu state, precisely at Ozom Hotels, and the same Gen Eze attended that meeting.
“We know very well that Gen Eze is a retired General in the Nigerian Army, but he is a Recruit in the politics of this country. It was the same chairman, Nwoye and Osita Okechukwu (DG VON) that recommended him for appointment as ambassador to India.
“I’m warning him too to respect himself as an ambassador. If he wants to play politics, we are ready,” he said.
Concerning the suspended deputy chairman and woman leader, he said, “For some time now, a former member of this party by name Adolphus Ude and the woman leader, Mrs. Queen Nwankwo whom we know as virus and mole in APC Enugu state. Ude has been parading himself, particularly last week he made a statement at Abuja, that the state chairman of our party, Dr. Ben Nwoye is still on suspension. And we don’t know who suspended Ben Nwoye. As of today, Dr. Ben Nwoye is the elected chairman of APC in Enugu state”.
