Member representing Orhionmwon/ Uhumwode federal constituency of Edo State at the National Assembly, Hon Patrick Aisowere has advised the federal government to make credit facilities available to major petroleum marketers so as to cushion the effect of scarcity of the product
The deputy chairman committee on interior equally faulted federal government sole decision to reduce the fuel price without corresponding re-payable loans and collaboration with other major marketers
He commended the federal government for the courage to scrap fuel subsidy from the 2016 budget but however, ruled out the possibility of the reduction bringing the scarcity to an end
‘But the way it stands now no marketer is importing, is only major marketers that sourced for the product at the rate of N110 that are selling at N120. I cannot really differentiate between removal of subsidy and reduction of fuel to N86.50 .so this fuel crisis is going to continue”
”As I speak to you now, the tank farms in Oghara and its environs have fuel but they are not selling just because DPR is around but when they settle them they will allow them to start selling. That is the corruption we are talking about in this country.”
