Malnutrition: Gombe tasks CS-SUNN on implementable programmes
The State Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Hassan Muhammad, gave the charge during a courtesy call paid to him by the State chapter of the CS-SUNN in his office.
The Commissioner, who stressed the need for combined efforts in fighting the high level of malnutrition in the State said no responsible government would be comfortable with the indices of the State.
He said: “I have stated this before, all we need now is specific programmes and recommendations that would be implemented in the State in fighting malnutrition among our children.
“We should be talking about results now, it is a very serious issue that requires a serious approach. As a government, we want to feel and touch the results and the releases would come naturally”, he stated.
Earlier, the State Coordinator of CS-SUNN in Gombe State, Comfort M Ali (Mrs.) told the commissioner that they were in his office to acquaint him with their existence in the state and seek collaboration in fighting malnutrition.
She stated that the North-East, which Gombe is part of, has one of the highest indices of malnutrition in the country and said all hands must be on deck to tackle malnutrition in the State.
