All Progressives Congress, APC, gubernatorial candidate in Edo state, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has said that his promise of creating 200, 000 jobs if elected into office will be fulfilled through focus on agriculture.

Speaking at a campaign rally for Edo South at Uwa Primary School, Benin City, said all he needs to do is continue from where Governor Adams Oshiomhole has stopped by granting Certificates of Occupancy to 12 farmers for 150, 000 hectares of land in the state.

“If each farmer employs five workers on their farms to work on only 50, 000 hectares of the land, is that not 250, 000 jobs already? We need to run government properly. We will make sure we continue to run an open, efficient and responsible government. The people must come first. We must make them create wealth and create jobs”.

Obaseki said the APC under Oshiomhole has reversed the erroneous impression that Edo is a civil service state when it was believed that there was no money to build roads by building over 1, 000 km of roads.

“Fifty percent of our primary schools infrastructure has been refurbished, thirty percent of our secondary schools have been refurbished and we have built over 1,000 km in a state that was called civil service state”.

He said as a youth he grew up to appreciate the fact that people who went into government did so because of a desire to serve and as governor he would put Edo people first.

Obaseki also said he would prioritize women empowerment by sustaining the granting of small and micro-credit facilities and train Edo youths so that they can become employers of labor themselves.
