The Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has described the existence of peace as a necessary precondition for development in every society.

Governor Ugwuanyi spoke while addressing the people of Igga community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area who were in Government House, Enugu, on a peace march in support of their traditional ruler, Igwe Herbert Nwanosike Ukuta on Monday.

Emphasizing the importance of the virtues of tolerance and dialogue, he explained that the emergence of the traditional ruler was consistent with the tenets of justice, adding that the choice was a reflection of the people’s wishes.

Earlier in an address, the President General of the town union, Mr. Raphael Amuche, extolled Governor Ugwuanyi’s democratic disposition as evident in his decision to grant audience to both parties to ensure that all voices were heard.

Amuche accused those he termed mischief-makers in the community, noting that their attempt to cause disaffection and discredit their traditional ruler had failed because of the broad support he enjoys.
“We are comfortable with him,” he said, drawing applause from the delegation. He also thanked the governor for his seal of approval and appealed for continued support for him.

Members of the huge delegation bore placards with messages such as
“Igga Town Union Stands with You”, and “We Are for You”.

I pray God should take charge of that community. A very giant community and one of the fastest growing communities in Enugu State, a community that is not depending on white-colar jobs or government assistance to carry on. A community blessed with so many human and natural resources. A community protected by God alone, a community that seems forgotten by the past governments, yet the food basket of Enugu State. No road, no drinkable water, no good school or hospital, yet the best brains are gotten from there continuously. what is so special about the kingship that we cant just come together? I wish we can forget about kingship and forge ahead. I remember 2011 when even during Christmas celebration, Igga was Wired with not electric wires but that of drilling machines for the crude oil discovered with their dynamite machine that vibrates houses when shot, but finally what happened? the oil company dug port holes in the community Partnering for Development: Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi(left) and Group Managing Director, UBA, Kennedy Uzoka; during Uzoka’s visit to the governor in Abakaliki on Tuesday. instead of boreholes and when the angry youth asked for just leveling of those pot holes, a young boy was shot dead and up till now, no oil, no road and the boy gone forever. RIP Onyibor (Too much money). The only time my people do have easy access to the government house is either herdsmen attack or crises of this nature. The connected/educated ones are not helping issues. Born to rule mentality is bad. who you epp? I pray we come to compromise one day for the youths suffer it most.
