Chairman of the Kano State Sharia Commission, Sheik Qaribullah Nasiru Kabara, has decried the rising wave of politically-aided criminality among youths in the state, which he said, has caused untold hardship on the larger society resulting in maiming and killing of innocent residents.

While conducting his Jumaat preaching at the Emir’s palace, weekend, Qaribullah said ‘people no longer sleep outside of their houses even with the rising heat wave sweeping across the state, because if they do the next thing is for these armed thugs to attack them for no reason with machetes all in the name of Yandaba.’

“The most unfortunate thing is that a lot of these thugs who are killing innocent people are today allowed to move around freely with blood on their hands and without any concerted efforts from any quarter to arrest and bring them to book,” said the cleric.

Continuing, the Sheik said: “Even if these boys are arrested by the people for their dastardly acts, the next thing is for one to see politicians sending highly placed emissaries to the security to release them. This will not auger well with the Security of the State”.

According to the cleric, the negligence along with the nonchalant attitude by the security authorities in the state has created ‘a sad situation whereby other areas in the state are quickly forming their own thug gangs.’

‘The state government and every listening ear should quickly come to the rescue of the people otherwise Kano will be consumed sooner than later by these drug addicts,” the cleric warned.
