Bauchi State chapter the All Progressives Congress (APC), has revealed that the protest held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja was an attempt to scuttle the visit by the state APC leadership in the state.
Disclosing this immediately after an emergency expanded state executive meeting held by the party in Bauchi Friday, the State APC publicity secretary, Auwal Jallah said that the protest was another attempt to stop people from knowing the truth.
He stated that the protest was uncalled for, pointing out that when a delegation of federal lawmakers visited the secretariat some days ago, there was no attempt by anybody to stop them from meeting the party leadership.
According to him, their visit to the party’s secretariat as well as their state executive meeting was done to clear the air on the allegations levelled by the lawmakers against the state governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar and the state APC leadership under its chairman, Uba Ahmed Nana.
Auwal Jallah said that the state APC is happy with the way the national secretariat of the party is handling the Bauchi APC issues with utmost maturity and fairness.
The APC publicity secretary added that the party is not happy with what transpired at the secretariat when some people that are opposed to their meeting with the party leadership tried to disrupt the visit stressing that the sponsors of the protest have again demonstrated their disregard for the national leadership of the party.
He said that in their attempt to achieve their aim of tarnishing the image of the Bauchi state government and the APC leadership, they hired thugs to disrupt a visit the aim of which was to discuss the way forward for the state.
He alleged that the person at the center of the planned sponsored protest is known to them, pointing out that he was there among the protesters. “He is a serving Immigration Officer with the Bauchi State Command,” he said, insisting that
“he is a Special Assistant to Senator Suleman Nazif and he was the one who was directed to mobilise and hire the thugs at a fee to come to the secretariat and stage the demonstration against our visit. But luckily for us, the people hired realised that they were deceived, so they later turned around to support the Bauchi State APC delegation that they were called to protest against,” Auwal Jallah said.
According to him, the party leadership will not condone any attempt by groups or individuals in the state to destabilise the party or the APC led government and the State APC will continue to work with all well-meaning Bauchi citizens in order to find ways of developing the state.
