The need for youths to imbibe savings culture has been emphasised by the management of Skye Bank Plc through its ref and win promo and famous storm taken to tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

While there are clamours in the country towards active political participation of youths, Skye Bank says the financial independence of these youths is the most  paramount in order for them to achieve the desired socio-political and financial independence, hence activation of the campus account savings package and financial literacy for students in tertiary institutions.

Speaking at the grand finale of the campus storm at Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Mrs. Ayodele Olojede, Head Retail of the Bank said “the promo is aimed at putting our youths in the line of savings and the best way to get that done, is to get them sign on with this Skye  campus plus account.”

The grand finale featured free games and free make up for students, among other freebies.

Mrs. Olojede commended students of the University over the huge turnout recorded. “The event is such a huge success here in OAU. We have been on campus since Tuesday and students have been coming to open accounts and refer their friends. In fact we have a particular undergraduate who has referred up to 250 people to open account with us. We are getting up to the target set and very sure of surpassing it. This is in line with Skye bank’s drive not only to build its loyalty base among the youths, but also to nurture them in having a very  sound financial plan since they will be graduating from one Skye bank package to another as they move up the ladder in life”.

A cross section of Students also praised the initiative of the bank as a laudable one. Stephen Akomolafe, a 300 level student of political science said he is happy that Skye bank could bring the event to OAU as it has further strengthened the customer relationship drive of the bank.

The students were treated to music, while competitions held in different categories like rap, and dancing, with winners carting away different gifts and prizes.

With the round off of the OAU ref and win campus storm, those who surpassed the 100 referral milestone, will participate in the grand raffle draw where the winner will go home with a brand new KIA RIO.
