Road to Russia 2018 World Cup for Nigeria, others gears up this weekend

There are nine 2018 World Cup second round first leg matches across Africa from Friday.

Ghana and Nigeria are both away but will be favourites to beat Comoros and Swaziland respectively.

The reigning African champions Ivory Coast begin their campaign to reach a fourth straight World Cup with a trip to Liberia but will be without Yaya Toure, who is taking a break from international football, as well as injured duo Wilfried Bony and Salomon Kalou.

Cameroon, who have been to more World Cups than any other African nation, are now aiming for an eighth appearance – they play Niger.

Caretaker coach Alexandre Belinga has only been in charge of the Indomitable Lions for two weeks following the sacking of German Volke Finke.

Ghana and Nigeria are both away but will be favourites to beat Comoros and Swaziland respectively.

There is a Southern African derby in Benguela as Angola host South Africa.
