The Borno state Governor Hon. Kashim Shettima has constituted a 25 man Independent Task Force with the mandate of monitoring and evaluating feeding, supply and distribution of food items in all internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in the state.
Governor Shettima, in a press statement issued by his spokesman, Malam Isa Gusau Monday, said “the Task Force is to also reassess the exact number of IDPs being fed, keep track of quality, reasonable quantity and regularity of meals; strengthen stock keeping and transparency in all supplies, distribution and utilization of food items meant for IDPs.”
The statement also said that the Task Force is to take any other lawful step relevant to their terms of reference with a view to guaranteeing the welfare of internally displaced persons under the custody of Government.
The task force which has Alhaji Bulama Mali Gubio, as chairman, has Modu Aisami Jabulam, Muhammad Sani Idris Bulatari, Pharmacist Abba Masta, Abba Yarema Bama, Sheikh Abubakar Kyari, Yaga Yagarakawa, Bukar Kolo Kashimri, Christopher Godwin Akaba,Timothy Mshelia, Rakiya Galadima and Hajiya Yabawa Kolo as members.
Others include Mohammed Abdu Kaka Kyari, Usman Majidadi Kumo, Hon. Saina Buba, Ba Lawan Jaafar (Chairman, Civilian JTF), Hon. Ahmed Liberty, Alhaji Zannah Mahadi, Representative of the Nigerian Police Force, Representative of NEMA and SEMA, Representative of the ICRC, Representative of NSCDC and Representative of the State Ministry of Health, while Mohammed Babadiya is to serve as Secretary of the committee.
The statement further stated that the Task Force which is to be immediately inaugurated by the Deputy Governor of Borno, Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa, is to be in place until May 29 2016.
Mallam Gusau said the Task Force is to regularly report to the Deputy Governor who has been assigned by Governor Kashim Shettima to directly supervise all affairs bothering on Internal Displaced Persons in Borno State.
