Shettima solicits global support to end Boko Haram insurgency

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state has solicited global support to end Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East and Lake Chad region in general.
Governor Shettima disclosed this when the commander MNJTF, Major General Lucky Irabor led his Commanders on a courtesy Call on the governor at the Government House Maiduguri.
The governor said that the counter insurgency war needs global support and should not be left for the 5 countries that make up the Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF).
He said he is no doubt that General Irabor will do more judging by his achievements as commander Operation Lafiya Dole, adding that more efforts need to be put in place to clear the remnant of the insurgents so that the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) will go back to their communities.
Shettima urged the MNJTF to organized more conferences aimed at enlightening the public on their role in ending insurgency, as they organized in the past.
Earlier, the Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Lucky Irabor said he was in the state as part of his routine visit to formations under his command with a view to encouraging them to put in more efforts to end insurgency in the region.
He called for more support from the five countries that form the MNJTF and other stakeholders to end insurgency in the Lake Chad region and also urged the general public to continue to give useful information to the security forces to assist them in ending insurgency.
