Governments, civil society organisations and businesses from Africa and beyond were hosted on 21 June by Nestlé to discuss a range of topics affecting the continent at the Nestlé Creating Shared Value Global Forum 2016.
The one-day conference in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire focused on this year’s theme of ‘Investing in Sustainable Development in Africa’.
The Forum was declared open by Nestlé Chairman, Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, and included the announcement of the winner of the Nestlé Creating Shared Value Prize 2016, which was presented by Nestlé Global CEO, Paul Bulcke
As part of the visit to the Region, Mr Bulcke and Ms. Wan Ling Martello – Nestlé Executive Vice President visited Nigeria on 23 June and touched base with the business where Nestlé has invested largely with huge commitments to various stakeholders. They also interacted with some Key Opinion Leaders and Operators of the various distribution channels of Nestlé trade in Nigeria.
Mr. Bulcke commissioned a Training Center at the Head Office, which will not only serve the needs of Nestlé employees but be an avenue to empower many Nigerians through various capacity and skill building Youth initiatives of Nestlé.
A consumer Insight Room, to demonstrate the changing trends in today’s Consumer understanding, was also commissioned by Ms. Wan Ling Martello ………..
The highpoint of the visit was when the Global Executives joined the employees at the Head Office, to celebrate 150 years of Nestlé.
Nestlé began simple trading operations in Nigeria in 1961 and has remained focused on delivering shareholder value through the achievement of sustainable, capital efficient and profitable long-term growth. Nestlé Nigeria’s Turnover in year ended December 2015 was N151.3 billion. The profit before and after tax were N29.3 billion and N23.7billion respectively for the same operating year.
