Former West Bromwich Albion striker Brown Ideye has said he has nothing to prove as he prepares to make a swift return to England with Olympiakos in the Champions League against Arsenal on Tuesday.
Ideye, 26, left West Brom last month for a move to the Greek champions after just one season in the Premier League. The Nigeria international arrived at The Hawthorns last summer from Dynamo Kiev for a then-club record £10 million, but was unable to hold down a regular place in the Baggies side.
Ideye’s situation was not helped by an early change in management at West Brom, with Tony Pulis being brought in to replace Alan Irvine, who signed him in the first place.
He did not figure in the two Premier League meetings against Arsenal last season, but he is excited about the Champions League clash at the Emirates Stadium.
“I am really looking forward to the game against Arsenal at the Emirates and returning to England,” Ideye said. “I never played against Arsenal when I was at West Brom and it will be a great test to come up against such a strong team as Arsenal.
