Exposed: Tinubu, Amaechi, Atiku, others on Jonathan’s hit list

Nigerians could soon begin to see the hounding of chieftains of the All Progressives Congress just few days to the presidential elections as President Goodluck Jonathan is believed to have told the Economic Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to secretly investigate the personal and official finances of the leading opposition party leaders.

Among the 20 listed by the President in a leaked letter dated February 19 to the anti-graft agency through Jonathan’s Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Jones Oladehinde Arogbofa (rtd), National Leader of the APC and former Lagos governor, Bola Tinubu, former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar and Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state.

Others in the letter include governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, his counterpart in Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Sokoto State governor, Aliyu Magatakarda Wammako, and governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed.

Others also include: Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of the House of Representatives, former governors of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki, former governor of Gombe State, Senator Danjuma Goje.

Former Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyatu Rufai as well as Ahmed Modibbo, former Executive Secretary of UBEC were also listed for investigation.

Farouk Ahmed, Suleiman Barau, Habib Abdullahi, former head of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Captain Muktar Usman, Umaru Ibrahim, Attahiru B. Yusuf, Aisha Abdurrahman, and Sen Aisha Alhassan are some of those to be investigated.

Amaechi is also the Chairman of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation.

“I have been directed by the C in C to instruct your Agency to clandestinely investigate the personal and official finances of the following present and former government functionaries and report back by 16th of March,” Arogbofa said in the leaked letter with block letters that read: “THE PRESIDENCY: OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF STAFF”

As at the time of publishing this report our correspondent is yet to get a response from the Office of the Chief of Staff.
