When late Chief Sir Dr. Ignatius Njoku was celebrated in New Jersey, USA

A Vigil Mass was held for Chief Sir Dr.Ignatius Njoku at the Blessed Sacrament Church (St Charles Borromeo) Catholic Church, 610 Clinton Avenue, Newark New Jersey, on Saturday, September 18, 2020.
It was a solemn event indeed, but a fitting farewell for a man of the people.

The officiating Priests included Rev Dr Anselm Nwaorgu, Rev Dr Erasmus Okere, Rev Fathers Albert Nze, Peter Iwuala, Marcel Uwandu, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and Eustace Edomobi.

Many Reverend Sisters were also on hand to honor the man who dedicated much of his life and resources to the service of God and the Church.

Loved by all, Chief Dr. Sir Njoku belonged to so many groups all of which were represented at the Vigil Mass.

The groups include, the Igbo Catholic Community Men’s Organization (ICCMO), of which he was the treasurer; the Knights of St John International Commandery 680, Newark, New Jersey, of which he was the immediate past treasurer; the Council of Chiefs of New Jersey, of which he was a member; the Igbo Catholic Community Youth Association, whose Patron he was; the Mbano community in New Jersey where he hails from and the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, whose Patron he was.

There were several other groups and individuals that came to honor him and there were also groups and individuals that came to condole and support members of his family, among them the Igbo Catholic Women’s Organization, of which the wife is a member and the Ladies Auxiliary 592 Newark, New Jersey, of which the wife is also a member.

Representatives of the different groups, one after the other, extolled the virtues of the teacher of teachers, the humble and patient laborer in the Lord’s vineyard and the committed and selfless community leader.

All agreed that Chief Sir Dr. Njoku has left a big vacuum that would be hard to fill.
